What is Two Factor Authentication?

You might be asking yourself what exactly is Two Factor Authentication, or 2FA in short. 2FA is the new standard for securing your digital logins. Traditionally you may have only had a username and password, which while secure (see our password guide here) can be compromised. 2FA adds an extra step in the login process by requiring a unique and randomly generated code to be entered when you log in to your C&B Portal.

Some businesses support this with a physical device that generates the code for you, others utilise SMS to deliver you the one-time code, or you can use what is referred to as an Authenticator app.

At Caleb & Brown, we prefer using the Google Authenticator App to enable 2FA with your associated account for its simplicity and reliability.

How do I download an Authenticator app?

Depending on the mobile device you use, you can download any authenticator app from either the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Below we detail how to install the Google Authenticator App.

Download Google Authenticator on your Android device

To download the app, simply;

  1. Navigate to the Google Play store

  2. Search for "Google Authenticator"

  3. Tap on "Google Authenticator" in the search results

  4. Tap Install

Download Google Authenticator on your Apple device

To download the app simply;

  1. Navigate to the Apple App Store

  2. Search for "Google Authenticator"

  3. In the search results tap GET, then tap INSTALL

    1. You may be prompted to login to your Apple account depending on your security settings
